Amaravati: Noble laureate Dr. Sir Richard J. Roberts is visiting Vignan university to take part in the three-day international conference on “Frontiers in Nutrition, Medical Genomics and Drug Discovery (INBIX-22) on October, 31. Vice-chancellor, Dr Nagabhushan in a press release on Tuesday said that department of biotechnology, bioinformatics, school of biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences is organizing the international conference.
He said that Dr Richard J Roberts, a renowned bio-chemist of UK, received Nobel in 1993 in physiology for discovery of introns in eukaryotic DNA and mechanism of gene-splicing. Vice-chancellor said that Vignan university is privileged to host noble laureate as his presence would help ignite young brains.
He said that former Director of IISC, Bangalore and chairman of Bairac, Professor G. Padmanabhan would also be attending the conference as chief guest. He said that Prof. DPS Verma of Ohio State University, Columbus, USA, Dr. K. Thangaraj, Director, CDFD, Hyderabad, Prof. Aveng Ah Rak, Director, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Malaysia, IRRI Research Unit Leader, Philippines, Dr. Nishi Srinivasulu, Genomics President, USA would take part in the deliberations during the prestigious event.
CEO Dr. Ratnagiri Polavarapu, Dr. Chandrashegaran of Johns Hopkins University, USA, Prof. G. Narahari Sastri, Director of North East Institute of Science and Technology, Assam, Dr. Gitanjali Yadav, Scientist of NIPGR, New Delhi, and Dr. Chandana Basu of Banaras Hindu University would also attend the sessions. University vice-chairman and MP Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu had released the brochure related to the INBIX-22 international conference on Tuesday.
