Implicit bias training has taken the country by storm and there are real life consequences to its infiltration, especially within the healthcare community. Case in point, a Texas nurse made headlines for an opinion article she wrote in the Wall Street Journal this week where she revealed what happened to her when she refused to participate in her workplace’s implicit bias training.

Spoiler alert: she was fired.

You have to give it to the social warriors for their ability to repackage the same stuff under new taglines. These days the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) cult is pushing a new training that’s the same as all the other old training, just under a new name: implicit bias training.

So the question we’re left with is what could be so bad about this training that someone would choose to put their career and livelihood on the line?

Texas Nurse Fired For Refusing Implicit Bias Training

Laura Morgan is the Texas nurse who was fired for refusing to go through the newly mandated implicit bias training. Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health introduced the new module “Overcoming Unconscious Bias” with their September 2021 annual training.

Morgan had been a nurse for 39 years before receiving the ax in February. Fast forward nearly 8 months and the long-tenured nurse remains unemployed saying no one will hire her in healthcare.

“Implicit bias training does operate on the concept that all health care workers are implicitly biased against their patients,” Morgan said in an interview with Fox News. “And must make decisions at the point of care based on things that don’t have anything to do with the medical care of the patient.”

Essentially, Morgan contends that the training tells healthcare workers to base their care on attributes that aren’t relevant to their ailment. She further suggests that the training tells healthcare workers like herself to “look at their patients through an ideological lens instead of a clinical one.”

I’m not a doctor, and I’m not a scientist, but that doesn’t seem right at all. It’s incredible that this sort of instruction could be rationally endorsed or even required.

Believe it or not, this type of training has gained massive traction across the nation.

Implicit Bias Training In Healthcare

Morgan then laid out what happened to her and healthcare professionals across the country.

“Nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals in these states where the training is mandated, are not able to obtain their licenses without taking this training,” said Morgan, “which tells them that they are unconsciously biased against their patients and make poor decisions based on those biases that result in poor patient outcomes.”

So according to this logic, if you don’t take the training, you can’t get or renew your license to practice medicine, and therefore you don’t have a job. Makes sense, right?

It seems like an odd strategy, given the importance of the medical community and growing need for medical professionals illustrated by the COVID pandemic.

Yet, implicit bias training is also mandated for health professionals in California, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, and Washington.

So what spawned this push to require healthcare providers to take implicit bias training?

The Long March

Like most socially destructive concepts, this one has been brewing for a very long time. A report from 2002 conducted by the Journal of the National Medical Associate titled “Unequal Treatment: Confronting Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care” speaks to this concept of implicit medical bias.

What makes the concept hard to argue is the very definition of the concept. The idea is that we all unconsciously or uncontrollably have attitudes or assumptions about groups or people that affect our actions and decision-making ability.  Sound familiar?

It should since it’s essentially the same idea behind “white privilege” and “systemic racism.” You don’t know you’re a racist, so you just have to accept that you are, and if you don’t accept it, it’s because you’re a racist. See how that works?

According to Morgan, she took a $5 course created by the Kentucky Nurses Association which tells nurses that “implicit bias kills” and white privilege is just “covert” racism. What’s more disconcerting, the professional course reportedly makes a reference to “modern-day lynchings in the workplace.”

The scary thing is this training is showing up everywhere.

Implicit Bias Training Takes Hold In Education, Military

Like most nonsense social equity concepts, this training has been seeping into the world of public education. As if this particular state hasn’t had enough issues with education, Minnesota is considering requiring cultural competency training for newly licensed teachers.

Surprise, cultural competence training is just implicit bias training, which is just equity training, which is just critical race theory repackaged. Our once revered military academies are also getting in on the ‘everyone is a racist’ kick.

The Air Force Academy ‘recommends’ cadets take training such as inclusive leadership, conversation facilitation, unconscious bias, and cultural sensitivity. These are just repackaged DEI initiatives meant to fly under the radar of unsuspecting future military leaders.

Businesses are also riding that bias train, such as KPMG announcing that if consultants refuse to attend their unconscious bias training, it could “impact a colleague’s performance rating, and by extension their bonus.”

‘Long March Through The Institutions’

This push to educate our youth, teachers, medical professionals, law enforcement, and businesses to see each other through ideological and purely racial lenses is not new. Woke-liberals didn’t invent this concept.

The idea that we should make medical, employment, and public safety decisions based on equity stems from our old nemesis, socialism. Socialists in the 60’s nabbed the old communist phrase from decades prior, which is what we see now; the ‘Long March through the Institutions’.

The idea is to subvert capitalism in a less revolutionary, violent way and instead through infiltrating education and various industries. The problem is it doesn’t work, and it’s perilous.

As Morgan stated in her interview, “The idea of implicit bias is grounded in the belief that white people treat those who aren’t white worse than those that are. It’s part of the woke assumption that society, including healthcare, suffers from ‘systemic racism’.

“Accordingly, my own supposed implicit bias, which is a euphemism for ingrained racism, must be rooted out. Not only that, it must be replaced with preferential treatment for the nonwhite.”

So much for fair outcomes.

The Ultimate Goal

In reality, none of these consulting firms or DEI companies care about fairness. Real life isn’t structured to allow everyone to have the same outcomes, nor should we want it to be.

Real life is about overcoming adversity, forging your own future, working your tail off to get close to your goals, if not attain them, and feeling pride in work and personal accomplishment. Tearing down one group of people for the benefit of another is unfair, and it does not help those it’s sold to support.

“I fail to see how real discrimination is justified by my nonexistent racism,” Morgan stated.

It shouldn’t justify it, yet here we are.
