One user has faithfully recreated Hogwarts on Minecraft over six years of work

Soon it will be possible explore Hogwarts on Minecraft thanks to a very detailed and faithful representation of the films and books of the beloved series Harry Potter: it is a real work of art and patience the one presented over the weekend by the user Ducky on Reddit, since the painstaking pastime required – block after block – something like six years of work and it’s not even 100% finished. From the canteen to the Qidditch field and from the iconic Escher-inspired stairways to the various lodgings and halls, the castle of the school of witchcraft and wizardry has been recreated in a surprising way: as you can imagine, the special personalized map within the game has found a great success becoming one of the most evocative creations of the famous sandbox title.

The brick artist has spent hundreds of hours of his free time to collect as much material as possible to prepare his mission: in addition to expertly plumbing all the original architectural descriptions described by JK Rowling in the various novels, he observed the clearest shots in the various films and also based himself on a sort of map released on the occasion of the sixth chapter in theaters, moreover he widely exploited photos and videos of the scale model at the shooting studios in London. The result is shown in the video released on Reddit with a sort of exploratory flight outside the school and in the various rooms and internal environments.

The work he asked so long that in the meantime Minecraft it has been updated several times, including for example new elements that were better in terms of graphics and adherence to the theme. One example is that of candles, which were only recently introduced in the game and which Ducky now wants to replace, one by one, the floating torches originally placed around the school.

The big difference with the other existing map dedicated to Harry Potter and entitled Witchcraft and Wizardry is that this was done by a single user and not by an entire team like the work of The Floo Network. According to the author, the most complicated parts were the bathroom of Mirtilla Warren and the Qidditch field due to the difficulty of aligning all the elements ad hoc.
