After numerous new and old glories such as Minecraft, Portal or DoomAlso Half life has received its own mod that adds the new graphics technologies, albeit an addition unofficial. It was developed by Sultim “sultim_t” Tsyrendashiev who worked on the project for about a year making it available on GitHub.

In particular, the release adds the path racing in real time to what the game is in its original version. The resolution of the textures and the models therefore do not change, but the technical sector undoubtedly gains in terms of global illumination, reflections, refractions and shadows.

Of course to use the mod you will need to have one copy of the game as well as a video card that supports Ray Tracing features. In this regard, the developer has also provided a list of known issues on GitHub. Furthermore, some AMD users may experience incompatibility issues with their GPU.

As for NVIDIA players, however, it will also be possible to activate the DLSS so as to improve the frame rate. Furthermore, the mod can be combined with others already available for the Valve title, such as Black Mesa which, although independent, has earned the appreciation of the same developer and is published directly on Steam.

It is undoubtedly a convincing work that joins others carried out by sultim_t, among which Quake which, tested by Digital Foundry, was called a real remaster rather than a simple mod.
