Rings Of Power Early Reactions Praise New Show’s Cinematic Scale

The first batch of early reactions for The Rings of Power episodes 1 & 2 are telling The Lord of the Rings fans to let themselves get excited.

The first batch of early reactions for Prime Video’s highly anticipated fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power are out. J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings universe remains one of the most popular in media today, having garnered a big-screen following through Peter Jackson’s iconic trilogy that released in the early 2000s. The Lord of the Rings continues to find new fans every year, whether it be through the books, the films, or other media.

This year, The Lord of the Rings franchise is returning to the screen, but this time as a television series. After purchasing the TV rights in 2017, Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service is the new home for the latest incarnation of Tolkien’s universe, with The Rings of Power set to serve as a prequel to the stories that have been told previously. Set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, this series has been one of the most buzzed and secretive since it was first put into development, and it is finally set to premiere on September 2.

Now that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is officially a week away from premiering season 1, which became one of the most expensive productions of all time, early reactions have started to appear online. As usual with most major TV shows, members of the press have been able to screen the first few installments from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1. Based on all of The Rings of Power trailers that Prime Video has been releasing throughout the year, it has been made very clear why it took so long for the show to become a reality. While major fantasy and sci-fi shows are known for the heavy VFX costs, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power went to even bigger lengths, as it took extensive time to work on season 1. Something that a lot of the early reactions have in common is that, no matter how much money was spent, it will have been worth it, as the first two episodes capture the essence of Tolkien’s visual universe.

Given that The Rings of Power will explore territory that the films never touched upon, there will be a lot of ground to cover across the LOTR show’s five seasons that Prime Video has already committed to for their order. With the addition of new characters that didn’t appear in the books, the franchise is getting expanded already, which will only richen this universe. With multiple critics already being sold on this new incarnation of the franchise, it will be exciting to see the rest of the world witness The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power when it premieres on September 2.
