Samsung is preparing to renew the offer of connected appliances in view of the CES in Las Vegas. Among the innovations already anticipated by the Company, one does not go unnoticed… also considering the tonnage. It’s about the new Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus, where “Plus” means primarily a clear step forward compared to the previous model as regards the size of the integrated screen. Yes, because while the Family Hub was limited to a 21.5″ panel, the new one integrates a 32″ one with FHD resolution.

It is easy to understand that such a generously sized display can be used to manage even more comfortably the services offered by the Samsung connected fridge, including video and streaming platforms – within the limits of a vertical orientation screen, it should be specified.

At the moment the product announcement comes from the South Korean division of Samsung which highlights some functions:

  • viewing Samsung TV Plus channels in PIP (Picture in Picture) mode
  • improved multitasking task management. For example, you can view a recipe while watching a music channel or control SmartThings compatible appliances while listening to the news
  • video playback of social platforms, starting from those of YouTube. The orientation of the screen lends itself well to viewing content in vertical format spread on social media
  • integrated SmartThings hub: the fridge can become an IoT hub capable of controlling lights, shutters, switches, motion and door opening sensors – these must be products expressly certified to work with SmartThings
  • connection via cloud to Google Photos and OneDrive services
  • for the US market, the “Amazon Your Essentials” service has also been provided which allows you to check the products frequently purchased on Amazon using a special widget

Lee Jun-hwa, vice president of home appliances division at Samsung said:

Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus offers a significantly expanded experience thanks to the larger screen

Price, availability and complete data sheet of Samsung’s new connected refrigerator have not yet been disclosed. We will probably know more next week during the CES. It should be remembered that the first Family Hub model was launched in 2016; over the years Samsung has refined its functions and expanded its distribution to reach the Italian market as well.
