A few days ago, Google has finally unveiled its new ones smartphone: we are obviously talking about Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, devices that bring with them several improvements compared to the previous generation. Among the hardware changes, the new Tensor G2 processorof which we finally know the complete technical data sheet.

The Tensor G2 chip is equipped with a Octa-core CPUwith different types of cores: we find two “big cores” Cortex X1 with a whopping 2.85 GHz (for very heavy operations, such as shot processing), two “average cores” Cortex A78 2.35 GHz (also very powerful) and finally four high-efficiency 1.8GHz Cortex A55 cores (perfect for everyday operations that don’t require too much computing power). Among other specifications, we also mention 4 MB of L3 cache and 8 MB of system cache.

As for the CPU, Google promises high performance and one drastically improved efficiency compared to what we saw in the past generation of smartphones (we’ll see if these promises are respected).

Of course, the best efficiency also translates into one longer battery lifean aspect that is certainly appreciated by many users.

As for the GPU, Google has opted for one Mali-G710 MP7 from ARM: even this offers, on paper, better performance than the Mali-G78 MP20 mounted on Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, especially as regards the rendering of elements in real time and rendering of animations.

Tensor G2 it also mounts one TPU (chip dedicated to artificial intelligence and neural networks) 20% more effective and 60% more powerful compared to the one mounted on the previous generation and offers several optimizations regarding safety (we mention the Tensor Security core, the Titan M2 chip and various virtualization technologies). Finally, noteworthy is the presence of an ISP that supports it 10-bit HDRGoogle HDRnet, 108MP ZSL and video in 4K at 60 fps.
