Xiaomi is preparing to launch a new smartphone in Europe, to the century Redmi A2, and it is one of the really very cheap ones, even in an already contained line-up like that of Redmi. But be careful, because there are so many sacrifices, perhaps even too many…

As with all unannounced models don’t take the tech info at face value, though the source it is usually very reliable.

As you can see Xiaomi has gone to fish specifications from a few years ago, in many ways. The processor for example, to his debut right on Redmi A2, it is actually a slower variant of the 2018 MediaTek G37: an octa-core with eight Cortex-A53 at 2.2 GHz maximum.
The door also comes from the past microUSB for charging, which is only 10 Watts, so it will take some time to fill up all the generous 5,000 mAh battery.
We have no confirmations for a possible fingerprint readerwhich is probably absent, nor for the GPSwhich will probably be present instead.
The more observant will have already noticed that they are on the back two cameras, but in the data sheet we have indicated only one. This is because there is no information on the second sensor, which is likely to be the classic 2 megapixel used to better estimate the depth of field, and for little else.
It should also be emphasized that the Wi-Fi network supports only the 2.4GHz bandwhich we haven’t seen for a while, but at least in return there is the audio jacks. After all, we said it from the beginning that this Redmi A2 seems to come from five years ago, right? And finally also pay attention to the operating system, that is Android Goincreasingly rare to see.
Exit and Price
The information we have reported so far is more or less all derived from Expert Germanywhich will shortly put Redmi A2 on sale in black blue and green colors, illustrated below, for €96.99. There are no confirmations for the price in Italybut it cannot be excluded that here it can also be around €109/119.
What is certain is that such models can only fit in case of needs maximum savings, but hardly argue in favor of Android in the broad sense, given that the user experience is full of compromises. Perhaps Redmi A2+which should be arriving soon, will fill in some of that, but it’s too soon to tell.
