According to recent rumors gathered by reliable journalist Jason Schreirer of Bloomberg, activision would be thinking of relying again on the brand modern warfare for the next chapter of Call of Dutywhose release would appear to be scheduled forfallreplicating what has been done for several years now.

Schreirer argues that the new project would be born as aexpansion of Modern Warfare IIthe latest chapter released last year and developed by Infinity Ward. However, it would have reached a scope that would justify its release as a stand-alone title. There should be one new single player campaignwhile some maps and game modes will return from previous Call of Duty games.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

A true continuation of Modern Warfare II, therefore, even if in all likelihood it will have a different name from Modern Warfare III. The game would be entrusted to Sledgehammer Gamesthe software house that has already dealt with several Call of Duty, the latest of which is that of 2021 with the name of Vanguard.

The new Call of Duty will also be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as well as on Xbox and PC, despite the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft and the investigations that the antitrust institutions are conducting. In fact, we do not want Microsoft to prohibit the release of future Call of Duty on platforms other than Xbox: on the contrary, if this proves to be a probable scenario, the entire acquisition agreement could be skipped. In this regard, Microsoft and Nintendo have recently formalized an agreement according to which Call of Duty will continue to come out on the latter’s consoles for another 10 years.
