We are talking about Coolwalk, the code name used to indicate the new generation of Android Auto. A few days ago we learned about the release of the first version of the new version Android Auto public beta. In this article we have described in detail all the new features introduced.

Unfortunately though it seems that not all the main apps are able to support the new graphic interface of Android Auto. This is the case with Waze, the well-known app for maps and navigation. Waze indeed it seems don’t support yet the split interface proposed by Android Auto.

The graphical interface divided into several windows is one of the main innovations by Coolwalk. With the split interface, you can start browsing and start a conversation at the same time second or third app parallel to navigation to control media content or the Android Auto Phone app.

As you can see from the screenshot you find belowWaze occupies the entire available screen regardless, leaving no space to second or third running apps.

Problems like that are clearly understandable since the new Android Auto is still in beta they developers of apps, like Waze, haven’t had much time to roll out support for the new split interface. We expect that everything will be resolved with a next update of the Waze app or via a later Android Auto update.

If you are curious to see how the new Android Auto works then you cannot miss our field test. Below you will find the full video.
