WindTre like TIM, faster than TIM, which before adapting the contractual rules expressed its intention to link the prices of the tariffs to the trend of inflation, later also confirmed by the CEO Pietro Labiola. In silence, however, WindTre intervened (yesterday) on the pages of the individual fixed and mobile network tariffs, clearly indicating that the new contracts will be indexed to inflation, and has even changed the general conditions of the contract. In short, it’s all done, there’s no going back.

With the increases we will start in 2024, the clause – and this is what TIM would also like to do – has now been inserted as a matter of timing. To make adjustments to inflation more realistic, the mechanism provides that in January the tariffs can go up by the value of the increase in consumer prices measured by ISTAT in October of the previous year. Therefore, in January 2024 the (possible, but highly probable) increases they will be tied up to the percentage ofinflation measured in October 2023.

DETAILS ON ISTAT CLAUSE: PRICES UP BUT NOT DOWN

There are some clarifications to be made, most of which benefit WindTre:

  • the mechanism concerns both i landline and mobile contracts
  • the prices will only go up due to inflation, do not decrease (assuming, unlikely for 2023, that consumer prices go down)
  • the increase in the monthlies will be by a percentage equal to the increase in inflation and in any case by at least 5%
  • the adjusted monthly amount can be rounded down to the nearest cent (e.g. an increase of 0.229 euros could actually be 0.22 euros)
  • the price adjustment is applied within the first quarter of each year
  • the increase does not constitute a contractual variation therefore, unlike the remodulations, does not allow the customer to withdraw without costs
  • WindTre reserves the right to Not raise prices.

The company has already reported the adjustment of prices to inflation in each plan on the site in the section Useful information to the voice WindTre Rememberwhich means that if you switch to WindTre today, you will be given a monthly contract linked to inflation. TIM hasn’t been so quick but will apply the same measure by the end of the year, we’ll see if only with the adjustment to inflation and not to deflation like WindTre.
