As reported by some users on reddit, for a couple of days with Google Home it is possible to use the commands which allow you to control the smart TVs compatible.

Actually already in August Google promised that there would come a chance to check the “popular smart home devices in the Google Home app, such as fans, air purifiers, vacuum cleaners, and TVs“.

The controls are the same as used for smart speakers not Castwith a big switch for pill-shaped volume, as well as other buttons to control channels and mutewhile those for playback are circulars.

If you have one smart TV with Assistant or support a Google Homeyou can

  • turn on and switch off TV
  • disable or adjust the volume
  • to change channel
  • reproduce or pause the content being played
  • change the source digital input port of the TV

If, on the other hand, you have a TV enabled for Cast or Google/Android TV, you must use i media controls of the new app Google Home.

Unfortunately the new function is not yet available for all users, but only for those who participate in the preview program (here’s how to register) and as far as compatible TVs are concerned, there are currently reports from owners of LG TVs and Samsung.

We still have no information on when this interface will come released to all Google Home usersbut keep following us because we will update you as soon as Google communicates it.
