The Great British Bake Off is one of the most feel-good shows out there. There have been a few scenarios where everything has turned sour for contestants on Bake Off. The baked Alaska incident, where the whole structure melted, is a perfect example of that. But there is always something to salvage and giving up easily isn’t too helpful.

Whether they are just finding their feet or seem to be at the top end of the amateur scale, there’s always progress to be had in Bake Off. No matter what level of talent the contestants contain within themselves, they continue to grow each week.

Reading the instructions has come to curse so many people, in exams and job interviews or perhaps in the Bake Off tent. It’s very common to see the recipes completely disregarded, before a contestant realizes they have made a terrible error they must now try and salvage them.

That’s the case extremely often; in fact, it happens so much so that it’s a surprise no one has learned this lesson by now. But in the stress of the moment, it’s completely understandable that some finer details might have been skimmed. Overall, paying attention to the rules and instructions is so vital.

Asking for advice can be a pretty big step for anyone. It’s a nerve-wracking thing, as it essentially says that there’s missing knowledge there. But that’s nothing to be ashamed of, and the only way bakers can grow is by learning from the judges and other amateurs.
