The long-awaited first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder is full of exciting, surprising moments – not least the final few seconds which see the God of Thunder’s clothes disappear revealing a peculiarly pixilated butt shot. To everyone’s shock, including both Zeus’ wives and us, the audience, Thor is left standing there completely starkers. But, perhaps even more shocking, Chris Hemsworth has now revealed to Variety that a naked Thor has always been a dream of his.

“It was 10 years in the making that scene — kind of a dream of mine. The first time I played Thor I took my shirt off and I thought, “You know what’s gonna sweeten this … a decade from now it’s all gonna come off.”

No doubt that Hemsworth is far from the only one to have dreamt of a naked Thor, and while the scene seems a little bit too “Carry On” and a lot less MCU, it is sure to have brought much delight to plenty of audience members and Hemsworth fans. Time will tell whether the pixels will remain in the finished film…

Of course, Hemsworth is known for his sense of humor, so describing the scene as one he has “dreamt” of is likely to be a slight exaggeration. Still, with Hemsworth having put in the work, effort, and whatever else is involved to look as much like a comic book superhero as possible, you can hardly blame him for wanting to show it off.

Chris Hemsworth Says He Will Play Thor Until Someone Makes Him Stop

Chris Hemsworth is now the first Marvel hero to get four solo outings, with many wondering whether Thor: Love and Thunder will be his last time playing the role. Well, according to Hemsworth himself, he loves playing Thor so much that he plans to do it until someone makes him stop.

“I love it, I love it. I’ll come back for more and more until someone kicks me off the stage, you know. I love it,” the actor said recently. “My whole career has been based around me playing this character and to come back again and again and play it with different directors and different casts has been an absolute joy. And, yeah, we’ll see what the fans want, and I don’t know, I’m down for whatever is enjoyable and having a good time. That’s what this experience in the Marvel world has been for me, so bring it on.”

Thor: Love and Thunder picks up with the Asgardian Avenger following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Thor has now embarked on his greatest challenge yet, attempting to find inner peace. Of course, his quest for peace is quickly interrupted and he must return to action and recruit several of his old allies, including Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster—who has now mysteriously become the Mighty Thor—to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods.

Directed by Taika Waititi, who co-wrote the script with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released on July 8, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
