Some thirteen years after the release of the monumental, record-breaking Avatar, a LEGO set has now been released depicting the world of Pandora. You would be forgiven for wondering why exactly it has taken so long. With several sequels, including Avatar: The Way of Water, now finally on their way, LEGO has decided to at last enter the Avatar business, retroactively releasing a set based on the climax of the first Avatar titled “Toruk Makto at the Tree of Souls.”

The LEGO set includes “4 minifigures, Toruk and Direhorse animal figures with connectors, a buildable Tree of Souls and 3 environment scenes with glow-in-the-dark elements,” with the description hinting at further sets based on the world of Avatar yet to come. The minifigures include both Neytiri and Jake (in Avatar form, of course, as no one wants to play with the boring human version), with the figures seemingly given extended legs in order to replicate their slender height.

The posable Toruk figure and buildable Tree of Souls are by far the most impressive elements of the LEGO set, though, with the former possessing a 15-inch wing span while the latter has glow-in-the-dark pieces, allowing for an accurate depiction of the precious tree.

Avatar: The Way of Water Will Leave Audiences Awestruck Later This Year

Avatar: The Way of Water will pick up more than a decade after the events of the first movie, and will tell the first part of the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Avatar: The Way of Water will introduce audiences to Jake and Neytiri’s new family, which will include several native Na’vi children, Neteyam (Jamie Flatters), Lo’ak (Britain Dalton), and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss), as well as the human child Miles Socorro, also known as Spider, played by The Night Sitter star Jack Champion. Spider is taken into the brood of Avatar heroes Jake and Neytiri after being born at the now-abandoned military base on Pandora. Too young to be returned to Earth, Jake decides to take the child in as one of their own.

Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: The Way of Water features a large ensemble cast that includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald, each of whom will reprise their roles from the original movie, with Sigourney Weaver returning in a mysterious new role. The sequel will also add cast members Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel, and CJ Jones.

Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022. Several more sequels will then follow, with release dates currently scheduled for December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.
