Kylie Jenner, star of Hulu’s The Kardashians, has gone viral for an awkward red carpet exchange with former Selling Sunset cast member Christine Quinn. After Christine left the Netflix reality hit, as well as the Oppenheim Group, she turned her focus to a career in fashion. Meanwhile, Kylie and the Kar-Jenner family’s devotion to high fashion was displayed in the Met Gala episodes of their Hulu show. But despite their shared background in reality TV and high fashion, Kylie and Christine’s interaction went viral for the wrong reasons.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Kylie and Christine’s awkward interaction occurred on the red carpet for the CFDA Awards, where Kylie’s sister Kim Kardashian’s brand SKIMS was honored. Though the awards occurred earlier in November, the red carpet moment didn’t go viral until a clip was posted by TikTok user @jennerkyliehere, which quickly amassed about 2 million views. The whole interview had been posted two weeks earlier by the CFDA channel on YouTube. The clip began with Christine hugging Kylie, who looked very confused by the gesture. The beauty mogul said “Good to see you,” indicating she didn’t know her interviewer’s name, and attempted to walk away. However, a possibly oblivious Christine continued to ask her questions. Throughout the interview, there were multiple signs that Kylie was uncomfortable, while Christine, who has a reputation for lying, was being overly familiar. After the former real estate agent exclaimed “you look amazing, have fun doll,” Kylie completely ignored her. @jennerkyliehere captioned the clip by writing, “Kylie’s look at the end says it all,” highlighting the very puzzled expression on the mom of two’s face as she was finally able to walk away from Christine.

Selling Sunset's Christine Quinn

Many TikTok users expressed second-hand embarrassment for Christine in the comments section. Most of the reactions were similar to jarreddoyle13, who earned almost 1,700 likes for saying that Kylie had no idea who Christine was. Another named Erik wrote, “Christine just be acting like she knows people.” Though Kylie’s own TikTok account earned backlash, the app’s users appeared to overwhelmingly be on her side. After one user added, “Kylie walking away as fast as she could lmaoooo,” another replied, “Kylie was trying to escape haha.” However, other comments claimed the 25-year-old’s behavior may not have been a snub towards Christine specifically. Instead, they argued that the Kylie Baby CEO has a history of being awkward at major red carpet events. MsAndie7 wrote, “Kylie once said she just doesn’t know how to talk to people.”

Whether Kylie was especially baffled by Christine’s behavior, or just generally being awkward, the clip’s sparked some of the least critical reactions towards her and her famous family in weeks. As season 2 of The Kardashians came to an end, the internet roundly proclaimed the show was disappointing, boring, and fake. Viewers also expressed frustration at how the show felt like advertisements for the Kar-Jenner sisters’ various brands. While Kylie earned praise for speaking about postpartum depression, fans were annoyed she didn’t share the new name of her son, formerly known as Wolf. Instead, she teased that it could be revealed in season 3.

The Kardashians seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Hulu. The third season is currently in production. Kar-Jenner fans will have to wait and see if the negative response to season 2 impacts the show going forward. Meanwhile, Selling Sunset will continue on without Christine, as it was renewed for both seasons 6 and 7.
