Live-Action ATLA Reportedly Cast Jet’s Freedom Fighters With 3 More Actors

Nearly a year after filming wrapped, Netflix’s live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series has reportedly cast Jet’s Freedom Fighters with three new actors. The upcoming show is set to take place in a world-torn world where certain individuals can bend water, earth, fire, or air. Aang, the last living Airbender, is the bridge between the moral and the spirit world, and the only one capable of bending all four elements. Aang has to contend with standing in the way of the formidable Fire Nation, though he’s helped by his companions Katara and Sokka.

As anticipation grows for the show, Knight Edge Media, (via CBR) is reporting that Avatar: The Last Airbender has added three more stars to its cast. Taylor Lam Wright, Wes Valarao, and Nathaniel Kong are the latest to join the high-profile project, with the trio reportedly playing, in order, The Duke, Smellerbee, and Longshot, who were part of Jet’s Freedom Fighters.

The Cast Of Netflix’s Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender So Far

Lam Wright, who appeared in Resident Alien, in addition to newcomers Valarao and Kong, are the latest additions to a growing ensemble. They join Sebastian Amoruso, who was previously reported to be cast as Jet, the leader of the Freedom Fighters. In the original Avatar: The Last Airbender, the group, also known as The Rebels, are partisans and revolutionaries comprised of teenagers and children who, under the leadership of Jet, aim to rid the world of those that bend fire, and have faced the question of having to kill innocent people.

In terms of who else makes up the cast of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gordon Cormier will portray Aang, Kiawentiio will play Katara, Ian Ousley will play Sokka. Dallas Liu has been cast as Prince Zuko. Paul Sun-hyung Lee, meanwhile, will play Iroh. Other notable actors in the large ensemble include Danny Pudi (Community) as The Mechanist, Daniel Dae Kim (LOST) as Fire Lord Ozai, and George Takei of Star Trek as Koh the Face Stealer, among others.

Although filming on Avatar: The Last Airbender was initially reported to have concluded in June 2022, a release date has not been confirmed, with Kim recently confirming post-production is still underway on the show. But for those who are curious to see Netflix’s live-action effort, it’s worth noting that each cycle of casting news and character confirmation is a sign that the project will soon arrive to audiences.
