A new clip from Thor: Love and Thunder puts the Asgardian and his buddy Korg together again for some classic, cringy banter. As shown on Good Morning America (via Movies Update), the new footage has Thor and Jane Foster come face-to-face after several years. As awkward as the exchange already is, the delightfully charming Korg is here to make things infinitely worse.

Thor: Love and Thunder will mark the triumphant return of Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) who is now mysteriously wielding a reforged Mjolnir. Now known as The Mighty Thor, the reunion between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane is an unusual situation for the God of Thunder, as he wonders how she has come into possession of his former weapon and has questions over why he and Jane parted ways in the first place.

While Thor does his best to approach Jane and broach some of these issues, Korg (Taika Waititi) is on hand to make things even more awkward and uncomfortable than they already are. Classic Korg.

Thus, Thor: Love and Thunder will mark the live-action debut of Jane Foster as The Mighty Thor. Created by Jason Aaron and artist Russell Dauterman for Marvel Comics, Jane Foster’s The Mighty Thor is diagnosed with breast cancer following the deaths of her husband and son in a car accident. Initially unidentified, Jane picks up Mjolnir and takes possession of Thor’s powers. However, Jane’s use of the hammer stops her chemotherapy from working, perpetuating her cancer each time she transforms and putting her in a very difficult situation.

Foster’s return is expected to remain faithful to the source material, with a recent report stating that Thor: Love and Thunder will find Jane “secretly struggling with a terrible hardship” that she is only “able to conceal so long as she’s wielding Mjolnir.”

Thor Will Need Jane Foster’s Help Defeating the Villain of Thor: Love and Thunder

Jane Foster’s emergence as The Mighty Thor is one of many exciting additions to the MCU in Thor: Love and Thunder. The sequel will also bring Oscar winner Christian Bale into the Marvel fray as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher. Swearing revenge on the selfish gods who have allowed his life to be nothing but suffering, the arrival of Gorr promises to be an unmatched challenge for Thor, with Bale’s performance testing “the highest of any villain Marvel has had,” according to director Taika Waititi.

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher, who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 8, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
