Sad and shocking news has just come in as veteran actor Ray Liotta has reportedly passed away. The veteran actor, famous for movies like Field of Dreams, Goodfellas, and so many others, had been consistently working up to his death with no apparent warning signs. At 67 years old, Liotta died in his sleep while on location in the Dominican Republic where he had been working on the film Dangerous Waters.

Because Liotta has been a popular actor for decades, his passing already has many in Hollywood in mourning. The Batman star Jeffrey Wright was quick to pay tribute by tweeting a message that stated, “Ray Liotta. Man. Just met dude for the first time last year. GREAT actor. Nice to have had a chance to say that to him. RIP.”

“Shocked and saddened to hear of Ray Liotta’s passing,” says director James Mangold (Logan, Indiana Jones 5). “Beyond the tough guy exterior and the tightly wound emotions of his signature characters, he was a sweet, playful and passionate collaborator and brilliant actor. RIP.”

Jamie Lee Curtis posted, “Ray Liotta has died. His work as an actor showed his complexity as a human being. A gentle man. So sad to hear.”

“I try not to do the RIPs but Ray Liotta was truly one of my favorites to watch,” writes actor Devon Sawa. “He just has this magnetic draw to his performances, which is part of the reason Goddfellas remains tied with Aliens as my favorite film(s) ever made. This one stung more than usual.”


Rosanna Arquette tweeted, “I’m really sad to hear that Ray Liotta has passed away. He was an friend back in the day and it’s very sad. We had a lot of laughs Rest In Peace My friend.”

“Very sad to hear the news this morning about the passing of Ray Liotta,” adds The Princess Bride star Cary Elwes. “An extraordinary talent whose remarkable performances left an indelible mark on the screen. Our deepest condolences to his family. RIP Ray.”

And Lorraine Bracco, who appeared with Liotta in Goodfellas, had this to say: “I am utterly shattered to hear this terrible news about my Ray. I can be anywhere in the world & people will come up & tell me their favorite movie is Goodfellas. Then they always ask what was the best part of making that movie. My response has always been the same…Ray Liotta.”

Ray Liotta Was an Inspiration for Many

There have been dozens of roles played by Ray Liotta that fans appreciate him for. Following a memorable role in the Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, Liotta also has multiple upcoming movies that will be released posthumously. This includes the Elizabeth Banks thriller Cocaine Bear as well as an upcoming comedy by Charlie Day. Going back decades, fans will find many other favorite roles to remember the actor by, and we can imagine many of those films will be revisited as people mourn the loss of the incredible actor.
