There are two options for doing B.Ed course in Bihar. One of these is the regular course, the other is the distance mode i.e. correspondence medium. While the regular course is open to all distance mode Option is made available for in-service teachers. Under this, 500 seats are earmarked in Nalanda University in Bihar and 500 in Lalit Narayan Mithila University.

At present, the responsibility of conducting B.Ed examination for distance mode has been given to Nalanda Open University only. That is, it is the nodal agency for conducting the examination and publishing the result.

Admission can be done in distance mode- For this, the application of only those candidates will be valid in the entrance examination, from a recognized primary, middle, secondary or higher secondary school from a central government, state government, semi-government institution or institute established by law. Must have completed two years of academic experience either on a regular or temporary basis.

For admission to NOU, the applicant must have completed two years of educational experience. Along with this, it is necessary to have graduation or post graduation from any recognized university with at least 50% marks for unreserved category candidates and at least 45% marks for reserved category candidates.

It is mandatory to have 55 percent marks for unreserved engineering graduate and 50 percent for reserved. The application of the person not fulfilling these conditions is automatically rejected.

Paper is of 100 marks: The entrance exam for distance mode B.Ed consists of a question paper of 100 marks. In this 50 questions are asked from General and Academic Knowledge. Subject selective questions remain 25. Each question in these two parts of the question paper carries one mark.

This is followed by an essay question which is of 25 marks. Two and a half hours are given to solve this question paper.
