He had raised the slogan of the movement for the repeal of three new agricultural laws. Many such things happened in these nine months, which have been recorded in history. During this, hoisting the flag at Delhi’s Red Fort includes violent clashes with the police. Many people have lost their lives due to the movement. We have brought 9 important things from those events for you. So let’s know the 9 big things of the nine months of the farmers’ movement.
1. Movement continues in all three seasons, winter, summer and rainy
After a long time, such a movement has arisen in the country which has lasted for so long. The farmers stuck on the Delhi border faced severe weather during their agitation, but have not shied away from their intentions.
2. Birth of a new word movement
Speaking in Parliament on 8 February, PM Narendra Modi coined a new word. This word was agitator. That is, some people whose livelihood rests on the movements and who remain busy in the movement without any reason. He said that these agitators are tricking the farmers.
3. In the elections of UP and Uttarakhand, we will take forward the movement by forming a farmer mission.
In Lucknow, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said that he will leave no stone unturned to teach a lesson to the BJP government even in the elections. He announced that in the upcoming elections in UP and Uttarakhand, he will tell the truth of BJP governments to the public. Please tell that Rakesh Tikait also went to Bengal elections.
4. The broken movement was revived by the tears of Rakesh Tikait
At the end of January, it seemed that the farmers’ movement on the Delhi-UP border would end. The farmers were instructed to vacate the agitation site. Heavy police force was deployed. A few days before that, there was a fierce demonstration of farmers at the Red Fort. There were speculations about the arrest of Rakesh Tikait. Then Rakesh Tikait made a very emotional move, Tikait started crying from the stage in front of the cameras. When the matter of Tikait’s crying reached the farmers, they started walking from the village towards the border. The broken movement stood again.
5. Broken into Farmer’s Organizations
Since the movement that started in November 2020, there has been a split in the farmers’ organizations in the nine months till now. Punjab’s Gurnam Chadhuni has announced to contest elections in Punjab, while other farmer leaders have not said such a thing yet. Apart from this, even after the fierce demonstration at the Red Fort on 26 January, many organizations distanced themselves from the movement.
6. The first view of the chic of the farmers was shown
It is because of this movement that for the first time people came to know that the farmer also leads a life of luxury. The pictures of the farmers who came in this movement with AC in their temporary rooms became very viral. The discussion intensified that how are these farmers who live in such luxury. But, another argument arose as to whether the farm worker did not have the right to live in AC rooms.
7. Chaos at Red Fort on Republic Day
This can be considered as the biggest turning point in the farmers’ movement that has been going on for nine months. For the first time, this peaceful movement was tainted. The fierce demonstration of the farmers was seen at the Red Fort on the occasion of Republic Day. It was criticized a lot. Deep Singh Sidhu was considered guilty of this.
8. Record Purchase of Grain
The leaders of the farmers’ movement also agree that during this time the government made a tremendous purchase of food grains from the farmers at the support price. UP has also set a new record of buying more paddy and wheat than last years in this period. However, farmers’ organizations have also raised the talk of a big scam in this.
9. Center said to postpone agricultural laws for one and a half years
The government has held 11 rounds of talks with the farmers representatives who are adamant on the demand to repeal the agricultural laws, but the result has been the same. Till now the only effect of the agitation was on the government that it said that all the three laws can be postponed for 18 months. However, the farmers were not ready on this matter and this also could not happen.
Some farmer leaders narrated some very important developments. For example, the restoration of social harmony. Jats and Muslims, who were separated after the Muzaffarnajar riots in western UP, are again tied in a thread. Meena and Gurjars of Rajasthan have come together. The dispute over the water of the Salatj Yamuna Link canal between Haryana and Punjab has also cooled down.
Let us tell you that the Central Government had passed three new agriculture laws. The first law is that big companies will be able to buy directly from the farmers. The second law is that up to what quantity agricultural produce can be stored. The third law is that of contract farming, in which there has to be an agreement between the company and the farmer regarding farming. The farmers’ movement is going on demanding the repeal of these three laws. The Akali Dal Party, which was an ally of the Center on the same issue, had also severed ties with the government.
