As per the new draft of the National Credit Framework (NCrF) prepared by NcrF committee, students enrolling in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to pursue vocational courses will have to clear a language paper to become eligible to get a class XII certificate from the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
ITI students can opt for any language paper from the list of 105 languages offered by NIOS. The students will be allowed to attend the language in the designated centres of NIOS, which conducts the classes on weekends under the ‘Personal Contact Programme’. Till now, the students pursuing vocational courses from ITI after class X had to mandatorily opt for two subjects consisting of one language and one vocational subject, besides the ITI curricula. This burdened the students, hence, the student can now opt for a vocational paper along with a language paper.
