To further enhance a Pokémon’s IV stats after Level 50 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, players can spend a rare currency known as Gold Bottle Caps.

Bottle Caps and Gold Bottle Caps are a type of special currency in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that Trainers can use to enhance their pocket monsters’ IVs (Individual Values) or stats, such as HP, Attack, or Defense. These stats increase naturally as a Pokémon Levels Up, but the IVs somewhat plateau after reaching Level 50 and beyond. Typically, the top-tier choices for each elemental type will carry players a long way even after they have completed the game. However, pocket monster combatants that have been enhanced to the maximum are needed to participate in the postgame high-level Tera Raids.

Before discussing where players can use Gold or normal Bottle Caps, it is important to know how to earn money in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. As one would expect, the Gold Bottle Cap is much harder to obtain than the standard variation, but both can be acquired through several identical methods. First, players can get Bottle Caps by participating in the Academy Ace Tournament, a postgame activity that unlocks once players have completed the three main storylines and rematched all eight Gym Leaders in Paldea.

Where To Spend Gold Bottle Caps and Bottle Caps Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Another source of Gold Bottle Caps and regular Bottle Caps in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the Auction House at Porto Marinada, where the Gold variants can sometimes be sold at prices upwards of ₽100,000. Finally, Bottle Caps can be purchased from Delibird Presents Shop for ₽20,000 a cap. However, this item only becomes available once Trainers have earned six Gym Badges. For clarification, Gold Bottle Caps are primarily obtained through the RNG-based Auction House. In contrast, normal Bottle Caps can be purchased indefinitely at the Delibird Presents Branches of Cascarrafa, Levincia, and Mesagoza.

As noted above, the primary use for Gold Bottle Caps and their normal currency variations in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is increasing the stats of a single pocket monster. This is done through a procedure known as Hyper Training. To Hyper Train a Pokémon, Trainers must find and speak with an NPC located within the Glaseado Mountain locale on the north side of the map. According to YouTuber Mon Facts, this unnamed NPC can be found at the snowy settlement of Montenevera within the small wooded north of the Pokécenter.

This Montenevera NPC offers players the option to use Gold Bottle Caps or normal Bottle Caps to Hyper Train their Pokémon. Gold Bottle Caps can be used to increase all the IVs of a single pocket monster, while Bottle Caps only increase a selected stat. For this reason, Gold Bottle Caps are much rarer and more valuable. Furthermore, keep in mind that Hyper Training in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can only be done to pocket monsters that have reached Level 50 or beyond.
